A Half of Us Story

East Side returns to the fire that opened Half of Us - Book One, moving past the public report and into the lives left in the rubble. Patrick Donovan Smith, known to most as Donovan, is a grieving father on probation, trying to raise two sons after the death of the woman who held their family together.

As smoke cuts through their high-rise, more than a home is put at risk. Donovan is considering a quick job tied to the old life that once cost him his freedom, while Jessica Richards, a paramedic built for the first hour of disaster, must bury emotion long enough to keep working.

Set within the world of the Half of Us Trilogy, this short story follows loss, duty, and the brutal math of survival after the headlines move on.

A Better Later

A Half of Us Story

A Better Later follows classmates Pete and Emily as their lives move parallel to one another, each carrying the same burden from different homes. Bred in confusion, fear, and careful self-protection, they must overcome what they inherited in order to trust the parents who stayed.

At the same time, their parents, Ron and Whitney, are left to navigate a world of solitude, sacrifice, and responsibility, making decisions that will find their way into what comes next.

Set within the world of the Half of Us Trilogy, this short story serves as an introduction to a forthcoming anthology, where lives extend beyond their origins, and in time, the clouds clear.
